Current use of the pelvic organ prolapse quantification system in clinical practice among Korean obstetrician-gynecologists

Abstract Background To assess current use of the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q) system in clinical practice among Korean obstetrician-gynecologists. Methods A web-based questionnaire was sent to 780 Society Obstetrics and Gynecology members. The items evaluated were demographic characteristics POP-Q evaluation pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgical decision-making. Differences between users nonusers analyzed by using two-sample t-test chi-squared test. Results One hundred twenty-six members (16%) responded survey. Of respondents, 48% reported POP. Members who female, urogynecologists, or performed a high volume surgery more likely (p < 0.05). All but one specific criteria determine whether each compartmental should be corrected during surgery. Most respondents used stage 2 hymen as threshold for all compartments. Conclusions Less than half obstetrician-gynecologists Almost make decision based on results examination.
